    Remove nuts and retaining plates securing lower joint dust boot to body and peel back boot for access to lower joint tightening bolts.

    Remove low pressure (1) and high pressure (2) connections from rack and drain system.

    Slacken lower joint tightening bolts and remove lower joint from steering gear pinion.
    Do not forcibly spread flange of lower joint when disassembling.

    Support transmission housing with engine jack and remove engine centre member and rear engine mounting (see EM section for details).

    Disconnect transmission linkage (support rod and control rod for manual transmission vehicles and transmission cable and mounting bracket for N·CVT vehicles) and place aside.
