INSTALLATION
Before installing steering wheel, apply grease (DAIKYO DYNAMIC or equivalent) to the slip ring face and cancel pin to prevent noise.
• Fit steering wheel onto steering column after ensuring wheel alignment is correct and steering gear is centered.
• Check that steering wheel is in neutral position and tighten steering wheel nut to the specified torque.
CAUTION
• Do not hit steering wheel when fitting to column.
• Check that steering wheel is in neutral position when driving straight ahead and wheel play is less than 35 mm.
• Attach horn connections to column and horn pad.
• Push fit horn pad in place and check operation.

REMOVAL
Steering Column Removal
- 1Remove shelf from dashboard beneath steering wheel to ease access to the steering column.
- 2Remove screws (4) from steering column cover and remove upper and lower column covers.
- 3Remove nuts securing steering column boot to body and slacken boot retaining clip.
- 4Pull back boot for access to lower joint (alternatively, remove bolts and retaining plate from pinion dust boot and peel back dust boot to gain access to the lower steering joint from the engine bay).
UST019 - 5Turn steering column to give best access to upper tightening bolt of lower joint and remove bolt.Do not forcibly spread flange of lower joint when disassembling.
- 6Remove windscreen wiper and lighting switches from the combination switch base by squeezing top and bottom fixing wings and pulling switch away from base.
- 7Remove connectors from switches.
- 8Remove steering column retaining bolts from bracket and withdraw steering column.
