Manual Steering Gear Assembly

  1. 1
    Tighten outer socket lock nut.
    Tie-rod length "L": 183.6 mm (7.23 in)
    Tie-rod assembly with horizontal length dimension 'L' shown from inner socket to outer-socket lock nut.

    Measure rack stroke.
    Rack stroke "L": Short track = 60.6 mm (2.386 in); Standard track = 64.6 mm (2.543 in)
    Steering rack with left and right rack-stroke dimensions 'L' shown on either side of the gear housing.

    Before installing boot, coat the contact surfaces between boot and tie-rod with grease.
    Detail of grease being applied to the contact surfaces between dust boot and tie-rod prior to installation.
