INSTALLATION
Steering Column Installation
- 1Attach column shaft to lower joint, making sure the cutout portion of the shaft faces the lower joint slit and tightening bolt. Fit lower joint bolt but do not tighten yet.
SST800A - 2Fit steering column securing nuts and bolts; firstly finger-tighten lower bracket and clamp retaining bolts, then tighten to the specified torque. Do not apply undue stress to the steering column. Tighten lower joint bolt to specified torque.
- 3Tighten nuts securing steering column boot to body and tighten boot retaining clip.
- 4Replace combination switches, steering wheel, horn pad, column covers and dashboard shelf.
CAUTION
After installing steering column, turn steering wheel to ensure it moves smoothly and that the number of turns from the straight forward position to left and right locks are equal. Be sure that the steering wheel is in a neutral position when driving straight ahead.
