TROUBLE DIAGNOSES — Diagnostic Procedure 1 (Blower motor does not rotate)

HA-45flowchart

Flowchart distinguishes Flow chart 1 (fan fails to rotate) from off-page branches B/C/D/E for speed-specific failures handled on subsequent pages.

Diagnostic Procedure 1

Incident → flow-chart routing

1
INCIDENTFan fails to rotate.
Flow chart No.1
2
INCIDENTFan does not rotate at 1-speed.
Flow chart No.2
3
INCIDENTFan does not rotate at 2-speed.
Flow chart No.3
4
INCIDENTFan does not rotate at 3-speed.
Flow chart No.4
5
INCIDENTFan does not rotate at 4-speed.
Flow chart No.5

Blower motor does not rotate — Flow chart 1

1
Check if blower motor rotates properly at each fan speed. Conduct check as per flow chart at left.
2
Flow chart 1 (fan fails to rotate); flow charts 2/3/4/5 redirect to other procedures.
2
B — Go to next page (for incident 2).
3
C — Go to next page (for incident 3).
4
D — Go to next page (for incident 4).
5
E — Go to next page (for incident 5).

3
CHECK POWER SUPPLY FOR FRONT BLOWER MOTOR. Disconnect blower motor harness connector. Do approx. 12 volts exist between blower motor harness terminal No. 30 and body ground?
N.G.
Check 15A fuse at fuse block. (Refer to POWER SUPPLY ROUTING in EL section and Wiring Diagram.)
O.K.
4
Check circuit continuity between blower motor harness terminal No. 24 and body ground.
N.G.
Reconnect blower motor harness connector.
O.K.
5
CHECK BLOWER MOTOR.
Replace blower motor.
(continue)
6
CHECK BLOWER MOTOR CIRCUIT BETWEEN BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR. Do approx. 12 volts exist between resistor harness terminal No. 24 and body ground?
O.K.
A — Go to next page.
N.G.
7
Disconnect blower motor and resistor harness connectors.
8
Check circuit continuity between Front blower motor harness terminal No. 24 and resistor harness terminal No. 24.
