DIAGNOSES — Overall System / Operation Check

The purpose of the operational check is to confirm that the system is as it should be. The systems which will be checked are the blower, mode (discharge air), intake air, temperature decrease, temperature increase and A/C switch.
CONDITIONS:
IMPORTANT
Engine running and at normal operating temperature.
PROCEDURE:
1. Check blower
- 1Rotate fan switch dial. Blower should operate at speed 1.
RHA568D - 2Then rotate dial to speed 1 or 2.
- 3Continue checking blower speed until all speeds are checked.
- 4Leave blower on speed 3 or 4.
2. Check discharge air
- 1Rotate air control dial to VENT (face) position.
RHA569D - 2Confirm that all discharge air comes out of face vents.
- 3Rotate air control dial to B/L (bi-level) position.
- 4Confirm that discharge air comes out of face vents and foot vents.
- 5Rotate air control dial to FOOT position.
- 6Confirm that discharge air comes out of foot vents, with some air from defroster vents.
- 7Rotate air control dial to FOOT/DEF position.
- 8Confirm that discharge air comes out of foot vents with some air from defroster vents.
- 9Rotate air control dial to DEF (defrost) position.
- 10Confirm that all discharge air comes out of defroster vents.
3. Check recirc
- 1Slide intake lever to RECIRC position.
RHA570D - 2Listen for intake door position change (you should hear sound change slightly).
