Spark plug — gap & install
- 5Check spark plug gap.Gap: 1.0 - 1.1 mm (0.039 - 0.043 in)
SMA476 - 6Install spark plugs. Reconnect ignition wires according to nos. indicated on them.Spark plug: 20 - 29 N·m (2 - 3 kg-m, 14 - 22 ft-lb)
Checking Ignition Leads
- 1Inspect leads for cracks, damage, burned terminals and for improper fit.
- 2Measure the resistance of leads and check for breaks.

Ignition lead resistance — Unit: kΩ/m (kΩ/ft)
BOUGICORD 403 CLASS E1
Resistance per length4.48 - 6.72 (1.365 - 2.048)
If the resistance exceeds the above specification, replace the ignition lead with a new one.
Positive Crankcase Ventilation (P.C.V.) Valve
When removing P.C.V. valve from rocker cover, be sure to renew the seal. Lubricate new seal and P.C.V. valve before fitting.
