Removal

Coil spring and shock absorber removal

    Remove upper mounting nuts.
    Do not remove piston rod lock nut.
    Top view inside the front strut tower with the strut insulator visible and two arrows pointing at the upper strut mounting nuts to be removed.

    Remove shock absorber lower fixing bolts.

Disassembly

Strut disassembly

    Set shock absorber on vise, then loosen piston rod lock nut.
    Do not remove piston rod lock nut.
    Front strut clamped horizontally in a vise. A coil-spring compressor ('Compress spring' callout) is on the spring. A 'Remove nut' arrow points at the piston-rod lock nut at the top of the strut.

    Compress spring with Tool so that shock absorber mounting insulator can be turned by hand.

    Remove piston rod lock nut.
