TRANSAXLE SIDE

Transaxle-side joint assembly

    Install boot and new small boot band on drive shaft.
    Cover drive shaft serration with tape to prevent damage to boot during installation.
    Transaxle-side drive-shaft end with the boot held over the splined end and the splines wrapped in 'Tape' to protect the boot during installation.

    Pack drive shaft with specified amount of grease. Add 50% grease to boot, and 50% to joint.
    RHD 1.0 ℓ / 1.3 ℓ and LHD 1.3 ℓ model (82ST): 215 mℓ (1.5 Imp fl oz).
    LHD 1.0 ℓ models only (GI69): 150 mℓ (5.4 Imp fl oz).

    Install slide joint housing.

    Make sure that boot is properly installed on the drive shaft groove. Set boot so that it does not swell and deform.

    Lock new larger and smaller boot bands securely with a suitable tool.
    Boot-band crimping tool ('Suitable tool') clamping a boot band on the transaxle-side CV boot to lock it securely.

    Fit new circlip to splined shaft.
