REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Water Pump Removal and Installation

  1. 1
    Remove radiator lower hose from radiator and drain engine coolant.
    Front of engine showing oil filter on the side, with the drain plug at the cylinder block to drain coolant.

    Drain engine coolant from cylinder block.
  3. 3
    Remove timing belt covers and timing belt, refer to EM section ("TIMING BELT", "Removal", EM-5012).

    Remove water pump.
    Exploded view of the water pump with O-ring and a single mounting bolt; tightening torque 20 N·m (2.0 kg-m, 14.8 ft-lb).

INSPECTION

Water Pump Inspection

  1. 1
    Check body assembly for rust or corrosion.
    Hand inspecting the water pump impeller / vane, rotating it to check for rust and excessive end play.
