Installation

Wheel hub installation

  1. 1
    Install wheel hub bearing.
    Mechanic pushing the rear wheel-hub bearing onto the stub axle with both hands; the coil spring is visible above. Used to illustrate hub-bearing installation.

    Tighten wheel bearing lock nut.
    Tightening torque: 186 - 255 N·m (19 - 26 kg-m, 137 - 188 ft-lb)
  3. 3
    Check that wheel bearings operate smoothly.
  4. 4
    Check wheel bearing axial end play.
    Axial end play: 0 mm (0 in)
    Rear wheel hub viewed straight on with a dial-gauge attached to measure axial end play. The dial-indicator stand is clamped to the suspension above and the indicator probe rests on the hub face. A callout '1' points to the hub centre.
